We’re looking for an empathetic, collaborative team leader to lead one of our Security RnD group teams, dedicated to building the best linux vulnerabilities database. The team works to develop efficient, scalable and reliable methods to ingest vulnerabilities affecting the different linux distributions.

Here at Snyk, you’ll help us expand the reach of our vulnerability pipeline, and contribute to the building of our critical infrastructure that supports our analyst team to verify and publish all the vulnerabilities we find. Our team is dedicated to ingesting and understanding vulnerability data from multiple sources and providing additional insights and recommendations to help users best triage and prioritise security issues

Managing a geographically distributed team between London and Tel Aviv as well as a functionally mixed team (with both engineers and analysts), you’ll know how to encourage strong collaboration within the team, communicate the mission of the team clearly, and guide team members on how to achieve their goals through pairing and mentoring.

You will own the future product technical direction, development, and operational reliability of parts of our platform, and grow and retain an effective, data-driven, impactful team that evolves its own processes and practices.

You’ll spend your time:

  • doing hands-on software development
  • direct line management of team members providing regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring
  • hiring the right people to enhance the team
  • working with your team’s product manager to plan and achieve goals
  • ensuring the team:
    • shapes the product vision, plan, and achieves goals
    • communicates proactively and sets realistic expectations
    • keeps its tech running reliably in production
    • supports customers and other Snyk teams
    • Balancing the team’s delivery of current goals with ongoing tech investment
    • Improving and building domain expertise
  • leading group initiatives or goals

You should apply if you:

  • have experience in managing, coaching and mentoring software engineers and analysts
  • are passionate about bottoms-up culture, invested in developing and growing both great engineers and great teams
  • have experience in cultivating a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment
  • are comfortable coding in and happy to work with python
  • can challenge and empathise with architectural or coding opinions in the team
  • are comfortable leading a geographically distributed team
  • have excellent communication skills and self-initiative
  • have experience working with different linux distributions
  • have experience dealing with large datasets

We’d especially love to hear from you if you:

  • are excited by Snyk’s mission, open-source, or developer tools
  • have significant coding experience
  • have experience with security administration of linux distributions
  • have worked in mixed teams of analysts and engineers in the past
  • are familiar with distributed system architectural challenges
  • have experience with infrastructure management concepts and ecosystem
